Shadow Era parts one and two are out now, so load it up and let the memories flood in. Not only was this the very first tune the trio produced 20 years ago, but it continues to stand the time as a glimpse into the very best the genre has to offer. Still, we can’t help but marvel at the pure awesomeness that “Images” showcases.

Highlights include remixes for Art of Noise, Omni Trio, Sneaker Pimps, Larcany and Force of Nature, but there’s also a classic remix from DJ Krust of Aquasky’s “Dezires” that can still bring on the goosebumps to this day! Original bits like “Moondance” and “Orange Dust” reveal the full span of Aquasky’s vision that sits somewhere between the ruff and the smooth. Making a name for themselves in the mid-‘90s on the imprint that was a powerhouse in the burgeoning drum & bass scene at the time, this two-part album showcases remastered remixes and original tracks alike, including some rare dubplate action that no doubt had to be rescued from a dusty DAT somewhere. Each track is composed magnificently, and perfectly reflects the feel of the games eerie yet. While the crew has released on numerous labels and bridged the gap between multiple genres over the years-hopefully we’ll get a retrospective look at their nu-skool breaks era in the future-their aptly titled Shadow Era compilation focuses solely on their output on the seminal Moving Shadow imprint. This is one of the greatest soundtracks of the Playstation 2 era.
